In order to upload, you must have a compatible file transfer protocol. Currently, CNet supports Xmodem, Ymodem, and Zmodem. Zmodem is popular on the Amiga, however most other computers use either Xmodem or Ymodem. You should insure your default protocol is set (using the EP command) before you attempt an upload.
To upload an item or items to CNet, enter the appropriate subboard, then use the UPLOAD command.
CNet will prompt you first for a filename and a short description. If you are using Xmodem, you MUST at this time supply this information. If you are using Ymodem, Zmodem or Kermit, the filenames will automatically be sent with the files, so you have the option of skipping that. HOWEVER, it is often convenient and easier to just enter the filename(s) and description(s) BEFORE you upload to save you time afterwards.
You will only be given credits for your upload if the following conditions are met:
1. You have given the file a short description. Long
descriptions are optional. If you did not describe a file
before you uploaded it, you can go back later and use the
W command, followed by the item number to describe a file.
2. The file is FINISHED. If you were disconnected for whatever
reason during the transfer, the file may remain on the disk
unfinished. When using Zmodem, you can RESUME an unfinished
file by using the U command followed by the item number. You
do not have to be the original file uploader to resume a file.
3. The file is VALIDATED. The sysop/subop may choose to only
give you credit for a file once he has had a chance to see
it. In this case, the only thing you can do is wait.
